How to enter cheat codes in GTA 6 on Xbox
In story mode, tap the full sequence in one go within about five seconds. D-pad for directions, A/B/X/Y for face buttons, LB/RB and LT/RT for the shoulders.
The mapping, once
| PlayStation | Xbox |
|---|---|
| Triangle △ | Y |
| Circle ○ | B |
| Cross × | A |
| Square □ | X |
| L1 / R1 | LB / RB |
| L2 / R2 | LT / RT |
Why your code is failing
- LT vs LB. The single most common error. The code tells you which.
- Stick instead of d-pad. Arrows are always d-pad.
- Remapped buttons. Custom profiles break sequences — reset to default.
- Pausing. The timer resets silently after a few seconds idle.
Trophies / achievements
Cheats block achievements for the session. Reload to clear it — full explanation.
Xbox entry — quick answers
Do I use the d-pad or the left stick for the arrows?
The d-pad. Every GTA sequence that shows an arrow means a d-pad press, not a stick flick. Stick input does not register as a code entry.
LB or LT?
LB is the bumper above the trigger, LT is the deep trigger. A large share of failed attempts are one swapped for the other, because the codes mix them freely.
Does the Xbox Elite controller change anything?
No. The paddles are not part of any sequence, and remapping the face buttons will break every code. Reset to the default profile before entering cheats.
